If a smaller, quieter setting is your style, the Key West Palm Court offers lovely guest accommodations in an old conch house built in 1884 by a sea captain. Built in 1888, this "Grand Conch mansion" is a typical example of Bahamian architecture in Key West. The Curry Mansion is one of Key West's most beautiful Victorian homes. The home and the adjacent inn offer fine accommodations in Old Town. The 1896 mansion is now an oceanfront bed and breakfast at the top of Duval Street. Its exterior colors are true to its original state and the furnishings are of the period. Dip in the refreshing, oversized pool after a day of touring Key West, and snooze in comfort on pillow top mattresses. No guide to Key West lodging would be complete without a nod to the Casa Marina. The picturesque, Mediterranean architecture, the 1,000 foot sandy beach, the quiet neighborhood location, and the resort's integral role in Key West history put this resort on every Key West map. The original building, completed in 1920, was built to accommodate the wealthy travelers who rose the new Flagler railroad spanning the island chain from the mainland to Key West. Two decades later the US Navy purchased the building to house officers during WWII. The Casa Marina was reborn again as a hotel in the 1950s and a recent $43 million renovation restored the resort property to its early grandeur.
